We got a late start because we just had to get a breakfast burrito at the Malt Shop/store in town, just up from where we were camping at Lake Morena. It was really good. I couldn’t eat it all, so I put it in my pack and finished it for lunch.
We piled into the truck and headed for the PCT monument at the Mexico border. We took a few photos and made our first stop at the CLEEF campground 0.7 miles in to sign the wall and use the restroom.
It was after 10 o’clock when we headed North at a relaxed pace. Water was plentiful everywhere. It got pretty warm with a cloudless sky. There were many interesting rocks.
And views
Flowers are starting to bloom and lizards are everywhere.
We stopped a few times for a break. My feet started hurting (chronic plantar fasciitis), probably because I was wearing my older shoes, trying to get a few more miles out of them. I have newer ones in the camper I’ll swap out once we get in tomorrow. Farmer was ahead of us, so I texted him to let him know we were stopping at 11.4. We had already set up our tents when he let me know he was only a mile ahead in a nice spot. I was too tired to pack everything back up, so Amelia and I will catch him in the morning.
