I’ve been planning a thruhike of the 2,650 mile PCT for a few months now, but didn’t want to post until I had things a bit more solid. It’s a solid 6 month undertaking and I’m very excited.
The process to obtain a long distance permit through the PCTA is a bit cumbersome. There are two dates that you can attempt to obtain a permit, early November and early January. My allotted time in November was too late and all 35 permits per day were taken by the time I could select. The second date releases an additional 15 permits per day and my allotted time was much better, so was able to get a March 28 start date at the southern terminus at Campo, California.
There is much to be done before I start, but it will all fall into place as I go. My next few posts will be about the trail itself and gear selection.
Looking forward to following your adventures
You can do this!
I'll hike vicariously thru you. How exciting! Good luck
Good luck Dana! So do you already have a trailname? If not, I will be looking forward to that point in your journey.
